I am a Math Professor, SAT Math tutor, and author of the GET 800 series of SAT prep books (such as "320 SAT Math Problems" and the "28 SAT Math Lessons" series).
I have been tutoring SAT Math for over 10 years. If you are taking an SAT Math Subject test, then you should get this book for the practice tests. It's certainly not enough, and I wish the College Board included more tests in this book, but this is what exists so I guess we have to deal with it. When I tutor for the Subject Tests I use this book for the practice tests, and for day to day preparation I use a combination of my own Advanced Course 28 Lessons book (for advanced SAT specific strategies) and The Princeton Review's book (for questions on the additional topics not included in SAT materials). Although The Princeton Review is not ideal, it gets closer to College Board questions than other test prep companies. Eventually I plan to write my own book for the SAT Math Subject Tests, but for now I am able to get most students an 800 on the Level 2 test using these materials. Here are a few tips for those of you taking one of the SAT Math Subject Tests:
(1) Make sure you take an actual Level 1 and Level 2 test under timed conditions before deciding which one to take. Even though you may feel like you're doing awful on the Level 2 test, your scaled score may come out much higher than you think. The curve is MUCH more generous on the Level 2 test than it is on the Level 1 test.
(2) If you are preparing for the SAT, then I recommend taking the Math Subject test the month after you take the SAT. There is some overlap between the Math sections of the regular SAT and the Subject tests. So don't give yourself time to forget all the strategies you've been practicing for the regular SAT.
