Author: Thomas Shoemaker James Mack | Language: English | ISBN: B00708VO46 | Format: PDF

Lineman's and Cableman's Handbook 12th Edition Description

The definitive guide to distribution and transmission line technology--fully updated

Completely revised to reflect the 2012 National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), The Lineman's and Cableman's Handbook, 12th Edition, provides in-depth information on overhead and underground distribution and transmission lines. The latest OSHA, ANSI, and ASTM standards are emphasized throughout.

This authoritative resource presents basic principles, equipment, standards, and safety regulations, allowing electrical workers to avoid costly errors, diagnose and repair power failures, and ensure optimum safety. A wealth of illustrations and photographs make it easy to understand the material, and self-test questions and exercises help reinforce key concepts.

Plenty of information. Lots of math equations, diagrams and specs. You'll get a good understanding in how electricity works and how it's made. Well worth the money for any apprentice lineman.

I have an older version of this book; about 15 years old. I was a bit surprised at how little the book has changed since then. I donated my old one to the office library.

If you have one of these and they're not older than 15 years old, you can probably do without purchasing a new one for at least another 5 years.

Still, there are a lot of changes coming down with power distribution equipment. The basics stay the same, but the equipment is changing fast to accommodate the de-regulated market, "smart-grid" (whatever the heck that really is), and a general consensus that electrical distribution have minimal environmental impact.
