Every year I buy an engagement calendar for writing complete notes about my knitting progress, since I design and knit many hats, mittens, sweaters, socks, scarves, etc., etc., year-round for giving away and sale. Usually, the calendars I buy don't have quite enough room to accommodate all the information I need to include, which is at least a long paragraph every day; sometimes it includes a list of yarn or other items I buy as well. I buy a different calendar every year--sometimes more than one--because the first one I send for may fall far short of my expectations. The Old Farmer's Almanac not only provides plenty of room for all of my required information, but it is a hardcover book and very attractive, and, therefore, a pleasure to write in! The cover is beautiful!--a photo of poppies, daisies, and grasses. Inside details: Each page is 10 x 7." Two inches of writing space are provided for each date, with four days on the left-hand page and three on the right-hand page, with another lined space marked "Reminders" on the bottom of the latter page, so that additional space comes in handy. There is also more space on the top of each page if needed. A quote or some other ditty takes up one inch by one-half inch of every dated section; some of these are fun to read, and there is still plenty of room to write. The book is very attractively designed, with illustrations throughout, moon phases, etc. And it's printed in the U.S.A.--in fact, right here in my home state of New Hampshire! I like the spiral binding very much, which adds to the beauty of the book. The only thing I don't like is that, because of this binding, you can't fold the book and keep it open, as I have done with all the other engagement calendars I have owned. I use a bookmark instead.
