The "help-you-pass-the-AP-exam" industry is mostly a bunch of garbage profiting off of your anxiety. The perfect example of this is that they come out with a new edition every year. This is a scam. The AP World History exam has not changed format since 2010. That means that the 2011 edition should be no different than the 2014 edition. In fact, little changes other than the date on the cover. So be aware of that before you purchase (old editions will be just as good, unless they are 2009 or older).
As an AP World History teacher, I've looked at several of these books to see which might be the most useful to my students. Barron's and Prentice Review are two others that I have and I'm fairly unimpressed with them. This book seems to do a much better job of breaking the content up in a meaningful way. Also, unlike the competition, 5 Steps To A 5 has actually divided the content into six periods instead of five (this was a part of the 2010 change by AP).
There are a few things lacking, like comparative timelines, but it does have summary comparisons of social/political/economic factors after each period. It includes two practice tests, but I'm not sure how many students actually take those.
It's not perfect, but I give it 5 stars because it's the best there is out there.

VINE VOICE
Its a very helpful book is what my sophomore son says. It will help him finish out the class this year.
